The Western Basketball Association is deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Arhin, the 2024/25 WBA League MVP, on Wednesday 20 May 2026. Michael, who had gone on to join Nungua Coldstore Basketball Club in the Accra Basketball League, was taken ill during a league game and passed away shortly afterwards.
Known to many as "Churches", Michael was the heartbeat of the TTU Oilers' championship season: 23.2 points, 5.4 assists and 2.8 steals a game, and five Player of the Game awards. He lit up every court he played on, and he will be greatly missed by his teammates, opponents, officials and fans across the Western Region.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, his friends and everyone at TTU Oilers and Coldstore. May he rest in perfect peace.
